Huma Murad, Librarian

Mrs. Murad completed her Bachelor’s in Science in Karachi, Pakistan. She joined Universal School in the year 2000 as a teacher’s aide and worked with various grade levels and classrooms. In 2008 she became the School Librarian and has worked to motivate students from KG through 7th grade with her passion for reading and enthusiasm for knowledge ever since. To spark her students’ interest and enhance their learning she uses educational games, blocks and puzzles while incorporating Islamic activities.
She continues to inspire her students’ curiosity with a wide range of topics and themes using books, technology and different resources as well as their imagination and creativity. Recently, the Library has been redesigned as a Literacy Center specifically catering to grades KG-3rd. It is now organized into five separate learning centers: 1. Read-Aloud/Independent Reading, 2. Computers, 3. Puzzles and Games. 4. Art, and 5. Drawing. By utilizing the space and collaborating with teachers to best organize class time, Mrs. Murad hopes to guide students to become good readers, listeners, and writers.
