Letter from Principal

Dear Families and Community Members,

Your continuous involvement and generous contributions have made Universal what it is today: a nurturing haven for American-born Muslim leaders, activists, professionals, and, in more recent years, alumni fathers and mothers of current students.

Our success as a school community transcends numerous acceptances to prestigious universities, exceptional performance on national standardized tests, and the recognition of many of our students as Illinois State Scholars. Although we undoubtedly take pride in these achievements, our most cherished success is providing students with a sense of belonging, connection, and agency.

Universal stands out in providing young Muslim Americans the guidance, support, and care they need to succeed in this life and the next by connecting them with mentors, shuyookh, expert faculty, and professional alumni. Our impact is measured by the success and strength of these relationships, which we pray will continue to grow for years to come.

We are grateful that Allah swt blessed our once small community with the courage to begin this challenging and honorable endeavor of building a haven for our children to thrive. The very foundation of this unique community is built on sacrifice and hard work. Families generously gave their time, energy, and resources to support a common goal and work towards a shared vision of providing a nurturing Islamic environment for our children to succeed in this life and the next.

We thank Allah swt, first and foremost, for the blessing of allowing us to partake in this mission. We thank you, our Board, Staff, Parents, Students, and Community Members for your continued trust in our leadership and forgiveness for any shortcomings.

Sincerely,

Aminah Murrar, M.Ed.
