WYSE, (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering)

Students Facing the Challenge

WYSE, (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) is a competition that tests the knowledge of students in several subject areas, such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, English, Biology, Computer Fundamentals and Engineering Graphics. There are three stages of the competition, the regional, the sectional, and the state level. If a team, which must include fourteen participants, finishes first or second out of all competing teams at their designated testing site, they move on to the next level

On February 17, 2015, a team of selected students: Salem AbuAmmer, Sajid Ahmad, Sara Alattar, Yazan Altarshan  Jamal Azhari, Qais Dihan, Okba Hamadi, Basem Hamdan, Batoul Hassan, Nora Ibrahim, Ali Mahmoud, Reema Martini, Mahmoud Radwan, Maryam sabir, Aladean Sahouri, Malik  Sahouri,  Ibrahim Salah, Malek Sarhan, and Mahmoud Yousef, went to Fenwick High school to participate in the regional WYSE of 2015. Alhamdulillah, our team ranked First place in division 300 with exceptional scores. The team advanced to the sectional stage that took place on March 17 at North Central College. The following students ranked in their respective subjects at regionals.

On March 17, the team went to North Central College to participate in the WYSE sectional competition. As a team, Universal School placed 1st out of 10 participating schools. The team advanced to the state finals which took place on April 16th at University of Illinois at Urbana, Champaign UIUC

On April 16, the team participated in the state finals at University of Illinois at Urbana, Champaign UIUC. Universal school placed 3rd out of 24 schools.
