Mrs. Lana Mahairi

Mrs. Mahairi worked at Universal School from 2004 for two years then rejoined in 2009. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education with distinction from the University of Michigan in 2001.  She is also certified by the State of Illinois.  Mrs. Mahairi worked at the Islamic Foundation prior to joining Universal School.  She is currently the Head of the Math Department and is teaching Statistics Honors/AP, Geometry, and Algebra 2.  Mrs. Mahairi is also the coach and mentor for Mathletes, a club with regional and state competitions.  She is also the coach and mentor for the Debate Team which meets year-round and competes in multiple tournaments. She is committed to the success and achievement of all students and runs after-school tutoring sessions for middle and high school.
